At Kumon Australia and New Zealand, 4 out of 5 franchisees are womenDuring International Women’s Day 2025, we highlight the invaluable contribution of women at Kumon Australia and New Zealand. As of February 2025, 221 of our 274 franchisees are women. They are owner-operators of successful education businesses that contribute to their local economy and communities. In Kumon centres, girls excel in the study of advanced mathematics. A recent analysis of our enrolments from 2019 to 2024 reveals that 51 percent of our Kumon Mathematics students are girls. Through Kumon, the develop confidence, a daily study habit, and a high level of calculation ability. This is significant because despite having equal potential to boys, girls in Australia and New Zealand too often remain underrepresented in the study of advanced mathematics. This is not the case at Kumon. Kumon is a pipeline for girls to embark on tertiary study and successful careers in STEM. Our commitment to gender equity is evident in our head and branch offices, with 48 percent – nearly half – of our leadership positions being occupied by women. Women and girls are realising their potential at Kumon as franchisees, students and employees.
